I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Requirements
Qualifications matter less to Brand Ambition than evidence of initiative. They are not looking for an AI expert.
What matters is real-world experience, technical curiosity and proof that you have actually built, analysed, fixed or improved something. It does not need to have come from a formal job. That might be a GA4 or Google Tag Manager setup, a dashboard or reporting project, a website or web application, a piece of JavaScript, Python or other code, a tracking problem you diagnosed and fixed, an analysis that led to a useful recommendation, a landing page or conversion improvement, an AI workflow or automation, a business process you made more efficient, or a personal technical project.
You will suit this apprenticeship if you are comfortable working with data and investigating problems, interested in coding, scripting or technical problem solving, and curious about AI and already experimenting with tools such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. You will be organised and able to manage your own workload, comfortable explaining findings clearly to non-technical people, quick to spot when tracking, reporting or user journeys do not make sense, and willing to suggest ideas rather than wait for instructions.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
Some familiarity with GA4 and Google Tag Manager, or similar analytics experience, is useful, as is a little basic HTML, CSS or JavaScript, though you can develop these on the job. Brand Ambition are deliberately open-minded about your previous job title. Experience in digital marketing, analytics, web development, data, operations or another technical or commercial setting is all valuable, and agency experience helps but is not essential. The role could suit someone already in marketing, analytics or digital who wants to move into AI, someone returning to work, or someone changing career from a technical or data background.
After this apprenticeship
You will finish with real agency experience across AI, analytics and conversion optimisation. As a small team, this role offers the opportunity to own a department by the end of your apprenticeship. Benefits include hybrid working, flexible hours and two extra bank holidays a year, on 17 March and 12 July. Holiday is 22 days plus bank holidays, pro rata where appropriate, and there is a 6 month probation.
