AI Data Engineer – power the data behind a new AI function
Up to £60k + bonus + benefits
London Hybrid (Shoreditch, 2 days per week)
Our client is a major European consumer group operating a portfolio of established brands across 90+ international markets.
The business is making a significant investment in AI and is building a new, dedicated AI capability to develop and deploy AI products across the Group.
You'll take ownership of getting the right data into the right place, reliably and at scale – building and maintaining the ingestion pipelines, transformations and data models that AI applications need to work effectively in production.
The data behind the AI
The AI function is at the beginning of its journey, with ambitious plans to grow its team, capabilities and portfolio of AI products. Those products will depend on reliable, structured and accessible data.
You'll work with data from across the business – including ecommerce platforms, advertising platforms, customer data, product data, APIs and other internal and external sources – making sure it's ingested, transformed and available where AI applications need it.

You'll work across AWS S3, Snowflake, dbt and Apache Airflow, taking ownership of ingestion pipelines, orchestration, transformation, data modelling, quality and reliability. You'll also monitor pipeline health and data freshness, troubleshoot failures and help ensure the data supporting AI products remains accurate, complete and dependable.
This isn't a traditional Data Engineering role where you're building pipelines without seeing what happens downstream. You'll be providing the data foundations that real AI products depend on.
What experience you'll bring
- Experience building, maintaining and troubleshooting ETL/ELT pipelines across multiple data sources
- Strong SQL for querying, transformation, data modelling and troubleshooting
- Strong Python for data engineering and automation
- Experience with workflow orchestration, including scheduling, dependencies, monitoring and troubleshooting
- Experience working with cloud object storage and data landing/staging patterns
- Experience working with a cloud data warehouse
- Strong understanding of data modelling, data quality and testing
- Experience using Git and CI/CD to manage and deploy data engineering changes
- Strong troubleshooting skills across data pipelines and database performance
- An interest in AI and how high-quality data can support AI products and applications
