About The Role

We are seeking a versatile Principal Data Scientist to join our dynamic team at Anaplan. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work across the full stack of our AI applications, including model integration, prompt engineering, and developing intuitive user interfaces. As a key contributor, you will directly influence our industry-leading platform by architecting and deploying innovative AI solutions that facilitate intelligent, automated, and predictive decision-making for our global clientele. You will serve as a bridge between traditional predictive algorithms and modern generative AI systems, playing a pivotal role in advancing our capabilities. Your work will involve designing advanced models, developing next-generation interfaces, and ensuring scalable deployment of AI solutions. This position demands technical leadership, strategic thinking, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of AI technology to solve complex enterprise challenges.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess extensive professional experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related fields, with a deep understanding of Transformer architectures, prompt engineering, and conversational AI patterns. Practical experience with autonomous agent frameworks and fine-tuning large language models (LLMs) such as LoRA, QLoRA, or RLHF for enterprise applications is essential. Candidates should have a proven track record of taking models from concept to production, utilizing robust MLOps and LLMOps practices to ensure scalable, reliable, and monitored deployments. Proficiency in Python and modern software development practices—including rigorous testing, code reviews, and CI/CD pipelines—is required. A strong background in traditional machine learning techniques, deep learning, and timeseries forecasting algorithms is also necessary. Desirable qualifications include a degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, Data Science, or related fields, experience working with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure), and familiarity with enterprise planning platforms like Anaplan. Additional valued skills include experience with A/B testing frameworks, contributions to open-source projects, and research publications.

Responsibilities

As a Principal Data Scientist at Anaplan, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading research, design, and implementation of advanced machine learning, deep learning, and timeseries forecasting models to address complex business and planning challenges.
  • Architecting Generative AI solutions, focusing on fine-tuning LLMs for specific enterprise data tasks, and developing conversational AI workflows that create intuitive, autonomous user experiences.
  • Designing and integrating next-generation AI interfaces, such as conversational agents and autonomous workflows, to enhance user engagement and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborating closely with engineering, product, and design teams to transition AI prototypes into scalable, production-ready systems, ensuring they meet high standards of performance and reliability.
  • Serving as a technical leader and mentor, fostering a culture of excellence, rigorous testing, and continuous learning within your teams.
  • Guiding the development of AI features, contributing to strategic planning, and ensuring the deployment of robust, scalable AI solutions that deliver measurable business value.
