About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Applied AI Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will lead efforts to translate AI capabilities into practical, production-ready solutions that add measurable value to our clients and internal projects. Your expertise will shape how AI is integrated across our engineering organization, establishing best practices, driving innovation, and mentoring fellow engineers. This is a hands-on, strategic position ideal for someone passionate about building with AI and dedicated to elevating the technical proficiency of their peers. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, architects, and subject matter experts, to identify opportunities where AI can make a meaningful impact while maintaining a focus on safety, accuracy, and ethical standards.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong engineering background with extensive practical experience applying AI in real-world software environments. You should demonstrate a deep understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and AI evaluation techniques. Proven experience in building and shipping production software, coupled with a track record of mentoring and coaching engineers, is essential. Familiarity with AI tooling such as GitHub Copilot and similar platforms is required, along with a pragmatic approach to AI development, balancing quality, cost, and latency considerations. Additional expertise in retrieval-augmented generation, vector search, fine-tuning, and LLM orchestration frameworks will be advantageous. Candidates should exhibit excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for advancing AI best practices within engineering teams.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and refine prompts, context strategies, and agentic workflows to create real-world AI product features that deliver tangible value.
- Establish and implement evaluation frameworks, test harnesses, and datasets to measure and improve the quality of LLM outputs based on business objectives.
- Evaluate and compare multiple LLM providers and models, making informed decisions regarding quality, cost, and response latency to optimize AI solutions.
- Collaborate with product managers, owners, and subject matter experts to thoroughly understand business problems before designing AI-driven solutions.
- Mentor and coach engineers across various teams, enhancing their ability to leverage LLMs and AI coding tools effectively.
- Facilitate pairing sessions, technical reviews, workshops, and one-on-one coaching to promote knowledge sharing and skill development.
- Create and maintain reusable prompt patterns, templates, evaluation tools, and internal guidelines to standardize AI development practices.
- Lead the formation of an internal AI community of practice where engineers can exchange insights, successes, and lessons learned.
- Define and continuously update standards for prompting, context engineering, and evaluation to keep pace with evolving models and AI tools.
- Provide measurable evidence to engineering leadership demonstrating the value AI solutions bring to the organization.
- Act as a critical reviewer of AI demos and prototypes, ensuring solutions are robust, scalable, and production-ready.
- Promote adherence to high standards around accuracy, safety, and data privacy in all AI initiatives.
- Assist engineers working within legacy codebases to adopt AI tooling effectively, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption.
- Represent the organization externally through technical talks, articles, and open-source contributions to showcase expertise and thought leadership.
