Aflac is investing in a new generation of technology capability that will transform customer and employee experiences, scale the secure and responsible use of AI across the enterprise, and reshape how software is designed, built, tested and delivered. These roles will work across strategic product transformation, cloud and data platforms, enterprise AI services, context and knowledge engineering, quality, experience design and AI-enabled developer tooling.
The Role
We are looking for an AI Developer Tooling Lead to own how Aflac introduces, manages and improves AI tools for developers, including GitHub Copilot, Amazon Kiro, Claude Code and future tools.
You will make sure the right people have access to the right tools, that usage is secure and cost-effective, and that teams understand how to use the tools well.
This is more than an opportunity to join an individual project: it is a chance to help build the platforms, practices and specialist capabilities that will turn AI into measurable business value at enterprise scale.
The Team
You will be part of Aflac's DevOps team. The team improves how engineers build, secure, release and run software across the organisation.
The team focuses on reducing friction for engineers through practical tooling, automation, guidance and standards. AI-assisted development is now part of that work, and this role will help make adoption clear, responsible and measurable.
What you'll be doing
- Own and improve Aflac's AI developer tooling approach across GitHub Copilot, Amazon Kiro and other developer AI tools.
- Configure and manage AI developer tools so they are secure, compliant, useful and aligned to enterprise standards.
- Support a tiered tooling model so access is based on role, need, value and risk.
- Manage licensing, seat allocation, usage visibility and cost controls.
- Partner with Finance and technology leaders on cost management and budget controls.
- Create reporting that shows adoption, usage, value, cost and productivity impact.
- Assess new AI developer tooling capabilities and explain what they could mean for Aflac.
- Work with Security, Risk and Compliance so tools are used responsibly and in line with Aflac policies.
- Create clear guidance and usage patterns that help teams use AI developer tools safely and effectively.
- Support the wider enterprise AI productivity tooling strategy from a technical perspective.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
