About Midnight

Midnight is building a regulatory-friendly data protection blockchain designed to safeguard sensitive commercial and personal data while enabling developers, enterprises, institutions, and ecosystem partners to build privacy-preserving applications.

The Midnight Solutions team works with partners, developers, Product, Engineering, Developer Relations, Business Development, Growth, and Marketing to help turn real use cases into successful adoption of Midnight technology.

Role Summary

The AI Developer Tools Engineer makes Midnight a first-class target for AI-assisted and agentic software development. This role owns the tooling that lets AI coding agents build on Midnight, maintains Midnight Expert and the Foundation's other AI-enabled developer tools, and turns real usage feedback from builders and agentic tooling into concrete input for the core protocol roadmap. The role works closely with, and reports to, the Head of Product, and sits at the intersection of developer experience, protocol strategy, and applied AI tooling.

  • Makes Midnight buildable by AI coding agents, not just human developers, by shaping the tooling, context, and documentation those agents rely on
  • Owns the day-to-day maintenance and quality bar of Midnight Expert and other AI-enabled dev tools used by the community
  • Acts as the listening post for how agentic tooling and builders actually use Midnight, and translates that into structured input for the protocol roadmap

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Core Responsibilities

Enabling Agentic Development on Midnight

  • Own and improve the tooling, context files, SDKs, and documentation that let AI coding agents (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot-style agents) build on Midnight effectively
  • Design, build, and optimize agent harnesses and orchestration workflows for Midnight-specific development tasks
  • Identify and close gaps where agentic tooling fails, hallucinates, or produces incorrect Midnight-specific code
  • Build and maintain reference implementations, prompts, and examples that improve agent output quality
  • Evaluate new agentic coding tools and protocols (e.g. MCP servers) for relevance to the Midnight developer ecosystem

Builder & Agentic Tooling Feedback Loop

  • Monitor how builders and agentic tools are actually using Midnight — successes, failure modes, and workarounds
  • Synthesize feedback from agentic tooling usage and community builders into clear, structured input for the core protocol roadmap
  • Maintain a regular reporting cadence to Product and Engineering on developer/agent experience trends and blockers
  • Represent the AI-assisted builder perspective in roadmap and prioritization discussions

AI Dev Tooling Maintenance

  • Own ongoing maintenance, accuracy, and reliability of Midnight Expert and other AI-enabled developer tools for the community
  • Keep tool knowledge bases, embeddings, and reference content current as the protocol evolves
  • Triage and resolve community-reported issues with AI dev tooling
  • Define and track quality metrics (accuracy, usefulness, adoption) for AI-enabled dev tools

Requirements

Recommended Experience & Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience building, integrating, or maintaining AI coding assistants or agentic dev tooling (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, MCP servers, RAG-based coding assistants)
  • Practical understanding of how AI coding agents consume context — prompting, retrieval, tool use — and what makes them succeed or fail on a given codebase or protocol
  • Familiarity with smart contract or protocol-level development (Cardano/partner-chain, ZK-based systems, or equivalent) is a strong plus, though not mandatory at this level
  • Experience turning qualitative user or usage feedback into structured product or roadmap input
  • Strong technical writing skills — this role will shape documentation and reference material AI agents and humans both rely on
  • Comfort working async and independently across a wide working-hours band (UTC-5 to UTC+5)
  • Bonus: built an application on Midnight or another privacy network
