DevOps Engineer – FastAPI & Cloud Infrastructure Internship

Remote | Duration: 6 Months | Start Date: ASAP | Commitment: (around) 20 hours per week (flexible) | Eligibility: Students enrolled in a credit-bearing university placement or recent graduates

Application Deadline: Friday 4th September 2026 Unpaid (credit-bearing, contributing towards your degree or a graduate scheme)

About the Opportunity

NexCell Solutions is offering a 6-month DevOps internship for students who want hands-on experience supporting the infrastructure behind a high-scale AI platform that manages thousands of real-world WhatsApp conversations daily.

This role is designed for students who want exposure to real production systems rather than simulated coursework. You will contribute to the deployment, stability, and performance of a FastAPI-based backend used by live clients, working in a professional, fully remote engineering environment.

The internship focuses on learning through contribution, understanding how modern cloud infrastructure is designed and operated, and gaining practical experience with DevOps practices used in real AI and SaaS platforms.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with NexCell’s engineering team to deploy and maintain FastAPI-based backend services
  • Support the setup and management of cloud infrastructure using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Assist in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for testing and deployment
  • Help configure and manage databases such as PostgreSQL, Redis, and Qdrant
  • Contribute to monitoring, logging, and alerting for production and staging environments
  • Support infrastructure security through proper handling of secrets and environment variables
  • Assist with performance optimisation, reliability improvements, and cost awareness
  • Participate in regular check-ins and receive guidance and feedback from senior engineers

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
