AI Director - Machine Learning
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an AI Director - Machine Learning based in the United Kingdom.
This role offers the opportunity to lead advanced AI and machine learning initiatives within a highly innovative engineering environment. You will shape the strategy, development, and implementation of AI-driven solutions designed to transform creative workflows and unlock new possibilities. Working at the intersection of research, engineering, and product innovation, you will guide teams in exploring emerging AI technologies and turning ideas into impactful solutions. The position requires a visionary technical leader who can combine deep machine learning expertise with strong communication and collaboration skills. You will play a key role in defining AI capabilities, establishing best practices, and driving experimentation in a fast-moving, remote-first environment.
Accountabilities
- Lead the research, development, prototyping, and implementation of machine learning solutions to support innovative product experiences.
- Oversee AI and ML initiatives, including intelligent systems development, workflow optimization, and experimental prototypes.
- Identify opportunities to integrate generative AI technologies across production processes and translate concepts into actionable strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather AI-related needs, prioritize opportunities, and deliver impactful solutions.
- Explore and develop AI models trained on internal data, including experimentation with local and specialized machine learning systems.
- Establish guidelines, frameworks, and best practices for agentic AI systems and emerging AI technologies.
- Educate technical and non-technical stakeholders on AI capabilities, limitations, and practical applications.
- Monitor advancements in AI research, models, tools, and industry trends to ensure continued innovation and technical excellence.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction to engineering teams working on AI-driven projects.

Requirements
- Previous experience in an AI/ML leadership role such as AI Director, AI Lead, Machine Learning Manager, or an equivalent position.
- Strong expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning theory, algorithms, system design, and practical implementation.
- Advanced programming skills in Python and C++, with hands-on experience using machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
- Deep understanding of modern AI models, their capabilities, limitations, and appropriate use cases.
- Ability to design and evaluate machine learning solutions while balancing research exploration with practical execution.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex AI concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborative and mentoring-oriented mindset with a passion for innovation, problem-solving, and knowledge sharing.
- Experience in game development or interactive entertainment environments is a plus but not required.
- Ability to stay current with rapidly evolving AI technologies and apply emerging approaches effectively.
