AI Engineer / AI Solutions Specialist

Type: Permanent, Hybrid

Shape the Future of AI in a Growing Business

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an AI Engineer / AI Solutions Specialist to join a well-established business embarking on its AI journey. This is a unique chance to become the organisation's first dedicated AI hire, taking ownership of how AI is implemented, governed and adopted across the business. You'll work closely with IT, business stakeholders and senior leadership to identify opportunities for AI-driven innovation, build practical solutions and help establish a long-term AI roadmap.

This role would suit someone who enjoys combining hands-on technical delivery with stakeholder engagement and is excited by the opportunity to build AI capability from the ground up.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design, develop and deploy AI-powered solutions across the organisation.
  • Build AI assistants, copilots, intelligent automation tools and knowledge management solutions.
  • Develop Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions using internal business data.
  • Create scalable AI architectures and support the ongoing management of AI platforms and infrastructure.
  • Integrate AI solutions with business-critical systems, including Microsoft 365, SharePoint and other enterprise applications.
  • Work with stakeholders across the business to identify opportunities for automation and AI adoption.
  • Ensure AI solutions operate in line with security, governance and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor performance, usage, reliability and cost of deployed AI solutions.

What We're Looking For

  • Commercial experience building and deploying AI or Machine Learning solutions.
  • Strong Python development skills.
  • Experience working with REST APIs and systems integration.
  • Knowledge of LLMs, RAG architectures, vector databases and modern AI frameworks.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience integrating AI solutions with Microsoft technologies such as Microsoft 365, SharePoint or Teams.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable Experience

  • AI governance and responsible AI practices.
  • MLOps or LLMOps environments.
  • Agentic AI frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI or AutoGen.
  • AI orchestration tools such as N8N.
  • Data governance and Microsoft Purview.
  • Prompt engineering and model fine-tuning.
