About the Role
Most AI roles are building demos. This one is building production systems inside a mission-critical financial exchange.
A highly ambitious US exchange business is hiring an AI Engineer to design and deploy agentic AI applications across rates, derivatives, market operations, analytics and internal workflows.
This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of:
- Agentic AI
- Complex financial markets
- Mission-critical engineering
- High-performance exchange technology
- Real production ownership
You will not be adding a chatbot to an existing product. You will build systems that reason, retrieve information, use tools, orchestrate workflows, interact with internal platforms and operate reliably in an environment where security, accuracy and control are non-negotiable.
What You Will Own
You will design, build and scale:
- Tool-using agents
- Multi-step AI workflows
- Retrieval-augmented generation systems
- Planning, orchestration and memory
- Structured outputs and function calling
- Human-in-the-loop controls
- Evaluation and regression frameworks
- Guardrails, monitoring and fallback mechanisms
- APIs, data pipelines, vector search and workflow engines

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
Graduate Consultant — 2026 Scheme
Why you're a good match
StrongYour economics background and your summer at a regional bank line up with what PwC looks for on the consulting scheme. Applications close in four weeks.
See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You will take ideas from concept through architecture, development, testing, deployment and production support.
The Real Engineering Challenge
Agentic AI in financial markets cannot simply look convincing. It must be measurable, secure, auditable and dependable.
You will work directly on the failure modes that separate serious AI engineering from experimentation:
- Hallucinations
- Prompt injection
- Data leakage
- Tool misuse
- Reasoning failures
- Non-deterministic behaviour
- Latency and cost
- Access control
- Escalation and human oversight
You will also influence the wider AI architecture, reusable components, evaluation standards and deployment patterns used across the organisation.
What We Need
You should bring:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
- 2+ years building AI, ML or LLM-powered applications
- Strong production-level Python and C++ skills
- Hands-on experience with agentic systems, RAG, tool calling and orchestration
- Experience building AI evaluation and testing frameworks
- Strong knowledge of APIs, microservices, cloud, CI/CD and observability
- A practical understanding of AI security, privacy and responsible use
- The ability to make sound technical decisions and deliver independently

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
Experience with LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, CrewAI or similar technologies would be highly relevant. Experience in trading, exchanges, rates, derivatives, clearing, market data or capital markets would be a major advantage.
Who This Is For
This role could suit an exceptional Senior, Staff or Principal-level engineer who wants more than another generic AI position.
You will be close to the code, close to the architecture and close to the business problems.
You will be expected to challenge weak ideas, understand model behaviour, design for failure and build systems that can be trusted in production.
For the right engineer, this is the opportunity to join early, shape the technical direction and help establish a serious AI capability inside one of the most exciting new financial market platforms in the US.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
