About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead AI Engineer to join our dynamic team in London, operating in a hybrid work environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in AI engineering with proven experience in deploying Generative AI solutions into production environments. Essential qualifications include:
- A solid understanding of scalable AI architectures
- Proficiency in building LLM-powered applications
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS
Candidates should demonstrate expertise in software engineering fundamentals, including:
- APIs
- Distributed systems
- Automation tools
Familiarity with governance, security, and compliance frameworks is crucial. Desirable qualifications include:
- Experience with MLOps or LLMOps practices
- Working within regulated industries like financial services
- Building reusable AI platforms or frameworks
Strong communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders are also key attributes for success in this role.
Responsibilities
As a Lead AI Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Leading the end-to-end delivery of Generative AI and agentic AI solutions, from initial discovery to full production deployment
- Designing and building large language model (LLM)-powered applications and intelligent automation tools
- Making critical architecture and tooling decisions across multiple initiatives
- Evaluating build versus buy options and recommending scalable, enterprise-ready solutions
- Establishing engineering standards, reusable frameworks, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across projects
- Ensuring AI systems are production-ready through rigorous monitoring, evaluation, governance, and observability
- Collaborating closely with engineering, security, data protection, and business stakeholders
- Providing technical leadership, mentorship, and driving initiatives that deliver operational and commercial value
