AI Engineer (Sovereign Defence AI) | Hybrid | Contract | UK
I'm currently supporting a pioneering sovereign AI company on the search for an experienced AI Engineer to join a fast-growing technical team developing and deploying advanced AI capabilities for some of the UK's most important defence and national-security programmes.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of AI and national security, building real-world AI systems that can operate in demanding, secure and mission-critical environments.
This is not a traditional data science or research role. You will be hands-on, taking AI capabilities from experimentation through to production, working across LLMs, agentic AI, machine learning and intelligent software systems.

Iβm in my final year doing Economics and I donβt know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer β it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donβt need a masters. Letβs look at the ones youβd be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet β that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
