About The Role
AI Engineer / Developer at CGI will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and deploying advanced AI solutions tailored for secure, mission-critical environments within the space, defence, and intelligence sectors. This position involves building intelligent applications that leverage data to support decision-making, operational efficiency, and strategic insights. The successful candidate will work on cutting-edge AI technologies, including large language models, retrieval systems, and data pipelines, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, and optimized for performance. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects in a secure environment, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex operational challenges. The position is based on-site near Gloucester, requiring five days a week presence, and necessitates UK Security Clearance or eligibility for it.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in AI and machine learning development, with excellent programming skills and familiarity with modern AI frameworks. A solid understanding of AI fundamentals, data pipelines, and deployment practices is essential. Proficiency in Python programming is required, along with hands-on experience with frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or LangChain. Experience in deploying machine learning models into production environments, along with knowledge of CI/CD practices, containerization, and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes, is highly desirable. Familiarity with large language models, retrieval systems, vector databases, and GPU or on-premise AI environments will be advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and possess a proactive, innovative mindset.
Responsibilities
The AI Engineer / Developer will be responsible for designing and developing AI-enabled applications and machine learning solutions tailored for secure environments. Key responsibilities include:
- Building and optimizing end-to-end machine learning pipelines and data workflows
- Training, fine-tuning, and deploying models such as large language models
- Integrating AI capabilities into existing platforms
- Deploying and managing AI workloads using containerization and orchestration tools
- Monitoring model performance
- Continuously improving system scalability and reliability
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions and addressing complex operational challenges
- Ensuring that AI solutions adhere to security and performance standards, maintaining a focus on delivering high-quality, scalable, and efficient AI systems
