AI is becoming an increasingly important part of how Aldermore delivers better outcomes for customers, colleagues and the business. As we continue to invest in technology and modernise the way we work, we're building the foundations needed to scale AI safely, effectively and responsibly across the Group. This is an opportunity to play a key role in that journey.
As AI Engineering Lead, you'll help shape the future direction of AI at Aldermore, combining technical leadership with practical delivery. Working across Technology, Data, Architecture, Risk and the wider business, you'll help identify where AI can create the greatest value and turn opportunities into solutions that make a real difference.
Success will come from making smart decisions about what is built and how to get the best from enterprise platforms and strategic partners. You'll help establish the engineering standards, frameworks and practices that enable AI solutions to be deployed securely, responsibly and at scale. For someone who enjoys shaping strategy, solving complex problems and building capability in a growing organisation, this is an opportunity to have a genuine impact on how AI evolves at Aldermore over the coming years.

What will your day look like?
- Leading the design and delivery of AI solutions from concept through to production.
- Shaping the technical direction, standards and best practice for AI engineering across the Group.
- Working with architecture, data, technology and business teams to identify and prioritise AI opportunities.
- Defining the right build, buy and partner approach for AI solutions and services.
- Ensuring AI solutions are secure, scalable, compliant and aligned to Responsible AI principles.
- Providing technical leadership across cloud-based AI platforms, services and integrations.
- Working with strategic partners and suppliers to maximise value from AI investments.
- Supporting the growth of AI capability and adoption across Aldermore.
What do we expect from you?
- Strong hands-on software engineering experience, with excellent Python and SQL skills.
- Proven experience building and deploying AI, Machine Learning and Generative AI solutions in production environments.
- Strong experience working with Microsoft Azure, including services such as Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Services, Azure Machine Learning and Azure Data Platform technologies.
- Experience designing scalable cloud-native solutions and integrating AI capabilities into enterprise applications.
- Knowledge of LLMs, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), prompt engineering, vector databases and modern AI frameworks.
- Experience working with APIs, data pipelines, MLOps practices and modern software engineering disciplines.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate business challenges into practical AI solutions.
- Experience operating within regulated or complex environments, balancing innovation, governance and delivery.
