AI Engineering Lead – Automation & n8n

Bolton | Hybrid – 1-2 days a week onsite

AI Engineering | n8n | LLMs | GenAI | Agentic AI | Automation | Technical Leadership

We’re looking for a hands-on AI Engineering Lead to lead an established team of three AI Engineers and help shape how AI and automation is engineered across the business.

This is very much a technical role. You’ll still be building, coding and solving complex engineering problems, while providing technical direction to the team and putting the standards and engineering practices in place as the AI capability grows.

There are two things we really need - strong AI engineering experience and genuine hands-on n8n expertise.

n8n is a strategic platform for the business, so we’re looking for someone who has built with it in a production environment and understands what good looks like beyond individual workflows. You’ll help establish the framework around n8n, creating reusable patterns and standards and making sure solutions are reliable, resilient and built to scale.

The Role

  • Leading the technical design and delivery of AI, LLM and GenAI solutions
  • Remaining hands-on with coding and complex engineering work
  • Establishing the n8n design and implementation framework
  • Creating reusable workflow patterns, components and engineering standards
  • Improving monitoring, alerting, resilience and reliability across AI and automation solutions
  • Providing technical leadership, mentoring and 1:1 support to three AI Engineers
  • Reviewing technical approaches and ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, maintainable and production-ready
  • Working alongside wider internal and offshore technical teams
  • Helping manage performance, priorities, resourcing and cost across the AI engineering function

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience with other automation technologies such as Power Automate, Blue Prism or UiPath would be useful alongside n8n, but isn’t essential.

You might currently be a Senior AI Engineer, Lead AI Engineer, AI Automation Engineer, AI Engineering Lead, Intelligent Automation Engineer or Senior Automation Engineer. If you’re a strong engineer who has built with n8n, delivered AI solutions into production and wants to stay hands-on while taking technical ownership of a growing AI engineering capability, we’d love to hear from you.

At Noux Talent, we believe recruitment should be inclusive by design. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and are committed to creating an accessible recruitment process.
