🚀 AI Engineering Leader | High-Growth Technology Business 📍 UK – Hybrid / Flexible
I’m working with an ambitious, high-growth technology business looking to hire an AI Engineering Leader to take ownership of its AI engineering capability and help shape the next phase of its technical journey.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineering leader who combines strong hands-on AI/ML expertise with the ability to build, lead, and develop high-performing engineering teams.
You’ll play a key role in defining the technical direction of the AI function, taking AI products and capabilities from concept through to production, while working closely with senior leadership and wider product and engineering teams.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading and growing a high-performing AI/ML engineering team
- Setting the technical direction and engineering standards for AI development
- Designing and delivering production-grade AI/ML systems
- Driving the development of GenAI and LLM-powered products and capabilities
- Taking ownership of architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance
- Working closely with Product and senior stakeholders to turn business problems into technical solutions
- Mentoring engineers and creating a strong engineering culture
- Remaining close enough to the technology to provide genuine technical leadership and challenge

What we’re looking for:
- Strong experience leading AI, ML, or software engineering teams
- A proven background building and deploying AI/ML products into production
- Strong software engineering foundations, ideally with Python
- Commercial experience with LLMs, Generative AI, and modern AI architectures
- Experience working with cloud infrastructure and production ML/AI systems
- A track record of hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Able to balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical involvement
