AI Harness Engineer | Agentic Infrastructure | Manchester (hybrid)
I’m working with a team building the infrastructure behind autonomous AI agents and they’re looking for an AI Harness Engineer to help take this from prototype into production.
You’ll be building the harness around AI models, the infrastructure, guardrails, tooling, and runtime environments that make autonomous agents secure, reliable, and scalable in an enterprise environment.
What you’ll be working on:
- Building secure, sandboxed environments for AI agents to execute code
- Designing guardrails around agent behavior, including input/output filtering and prompt injection protection
- Building tool orchestration and validation layers between LLMs and external systems
- Developing verification and self-correction loops around runtime and tool failures
- Designing human-in-the-loop checkpoints for higher-risk autonomous actions
- Making sure agent infrastructure is scalable, resilient, and secure

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You don’t need to have trained LLMs. I’m much more interested in someone who understands how to build the infrastructure around them and make them work safely at scale.
