AI Implementation Engineer (Data Science / ML Background)
Manchester | Hybrid (3 Days Office / 2 Days Remote)
A growing technology-led organisation is looking to appoint an AI Implementation Engineer to play a key role in driving AI adoption across the business.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a Data Science and Machine Learning background who has evolved into delivering production AI solutions. You'll combine expertise across AI, ML, LLMs, data engineering, and enterprise infrastructure to design, develop, and implement AI solutions that create genuine business value.
Working closely with IT, commercial stakeholders, and operational teams, you will lead AI initiatives from strategy and proof of concept through to production deployment and business adoption. This is a highly collaborative role where you'll help shape the organisation's AI roadmap while remaining hands-on with the technology.
The business is investing heavily in AI and is looking for someone who can bridge the gap between technical capability and commercial outcomes, identifying opportunities, building scalable solutions, and ensuring successful implementation across the organisation.
The Role
You'll be responsible for leading the full AI delivery lifecycle, including:
- Defining AI strategy and identifying high-value business opportunities
- Leading AI projects from proof of concept through to production deployment
- Designing and developing AI and Machine Learning solutions using Azure and modern AI technologies
- Building production-ready LLM applications, RAG pipelines, and AI agents
- Working closely with Data Engineering teams to prepare and integrate structured and unstructured data
- Collaborating with Infrastructure teams to deploy secure, scalable AI solutions into enterprise environments
- Embedding AI tools into operational workflows and driving user adoption across the business
- Establishing monitoring, evaluation, and governance frameworks for production AI environments
- Measuring project success through business impact, automation gains, and operational improvements
- Providing technical leadership across AI initiatives while working closely with stakeholders at all levels

Required Experience
Essential
- Strong commercial background in Data Science and Machine Learning
- Experience designing and deploying production AI solutions
- Strong knowledge of AI, Machine Learning, and Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Experience developing RAG solutions and AI agents
- Excellent Python skills alongside modern AI/ML frameworks and SDKs
- Experience with Azure AI services or another enterprise AI cloud platform
- Strong understanding of Data Engineering concepts and working with structured and unstructured datasets
- Experience deploying AI solutions into enterprise environments
- Good understanding of IT Infrastructure including networking, security, APIs, Entra ID, and cloud platforms
- Experience integrating AI solutions with existing business systems
- Ability to lead AI initiatives from strategy and proof of concept through to implementation
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
- Commercial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities where AI can deliver measurable business value

Desirable
- Experience with LLMOps / GenAIOps and production monitoring frameworks
- Knowledge of Azure Private Endpoints, VNets, and secure AI deployment
- Experience with workflow automation and AI orchestration
- Experience helping establish or grow AI capability within an organisation
- Background within operational, retail, automotive, or customer-focused environments
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving business problems through technology and has the confidence to lead AI initiatives from idea through to delivery.
You'll come from a Data Science or Machine Learning background but will also have developed strong capabilities across AI engineering, data engineering, and enterprise infrastructure. Equally comfortable discussing strategy with senior stakeholders or building production AI solutions, you'll enjoy collaborating across teams and driving AI adoption throughout the business.
