AI Innovation & Automation Specialist
6-month contract
£500 per day – Inside IR35
London / Remote
A global organisation is seeking an AI Innovation & Automation Specialist to join a two-person Enterprise Innovation Lab.
You will identify high-value opportunities across Commercial and Operations, build working prototypes at pace, and validate solutions before handing successful pilots to delivery teams. This is a highly autonomous, hands-on role combining commercial engagement, AI experimentation, and rapid solution development.
What you’ll do
- Build and manage a pipeline of AI and automation opportunities.
- Frame each pilot commercially, considering revenue, cost, risk, and speed.
- Develop AI prototypes, agents, and automations.
- Test solutions with real users, measure results, and iterate quickly.
- Work with Commercial, Operations, Credit, Compliance, and Marketing teams.
- Evaluate emerging AI platforms, automation tools, and agent frameworks.
- Compare tools based on capability, cost, security, and integration effort.
- Present evidence-based findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Hand validated prototypes over to delivery teams for productionisation.

About you
- Experience building AI-enabled prototypes, agents, or automations.
- Strong understanding of generative AI, LLMs, their limitations, and risks.
- Commercially focused, with the ability to build and defend a benefits case.
- Comfortable working directly with Commercial and Operations teams.
- Strong problem-solving, storytelling, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Independent, resourceful, and able to deliver at pace with limited direction.
- Sound judgement when balancing value, risk, complexity, and speed.
