AI Engineer (Agentic/Applied) – Accenture
About the Role
You design and deploy production-grade agentic AI systems inside real enterprise environments—not just demos or prototypes. The difference between an AI Engineer and what we seek is clear: you’ve shipped a multi-agent system in production, owned its eval harness, and experienced the impact of a failure during an unexpected late-night scenario.
In this role at Accenture’s core AI engineering talent hub, you’ll:
- Build scalable, enterprise-ready agentic architectures across full tech stacks.
- Collaborate directly with client engineering teams, driving technical design, prototyping, and deployment.
- Develop reusable patterns, accelerators, and commercial frameworks that accelerate future client engagements.
- Leverage exclusive vendor interactions (Anthropic, OpenAI, Microsoft, Google) and a pathway to Accenture’s Forward Deployed Engineer programme.
This opportunity bridges demand and supply gaps in enterprise AI engineering—no competitor offers industry breadth, enterprise stack diversity, or access to the same fusion of practical tools, codebases, and human networks.
Key Responsibilities
-
End-to-End Agentic System Architecture
- Design and build production-grade agentic systems, including:
- Multi-agent orchestration
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines
- Policy-based routing and tool invocation
- Memory management and lifecycle observability
- Design and build production-grade agentic systems, including:
-
RAG Pipeline Ownership
- Implement embeddings, chunking strategies, vector search, and context window optimizations to meet real-quality targets.
- Fine-tune chunking, similarity thresholds, and retrieval augmentation for accuracy and cost efficiency.
-
Multi-LLM Integration
- Integrate and abstract across OpenAI, Anthropic, Vertex AI, and open-source models.
- Manage fallback routing, token costs, and latency in production environments.
-
LLMOps & Observability
- Build evaluation harnesses with real-world quality metrics.
- Implement prompt versioning, safety monitoring, cost tracking, and observability tools (e.g., LangSmith, Braintrust).
- Deploy end-to-end monitoring to ensure system reliability.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

-
Client Collaboration & Delivery
- Embed deeply with client engineering teams to design, prototype, and deploy agentic solutions.
- Lead workshops, POCs, code-with sessions, and architecture reviews to ensure seamless adoption.
- Communicate technical and business impacts to stakeholders using clear, measurable metrics.
-
Enterprise Scalability & Re-Usability

- Production-prioritised software engineering experience (demanding environments > polish).
- Non-negotiable hands-on experience:
- Shipping 3+ production agentic systems in complexity/performance ranges preferred (depth > breadth).
- Agentic orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen) at production levels (beyond tutorials).
- LLM API production mastery:
- Provider-level abstraction (OpenAI, Anthropic, Vertex AI).
- Cost/latency token tradeoffs and yield tuning.
- RAG pipeline ownership:
- Embeddings strategies, chunking techniques, vector DB configuration, and context window engineering.
- LLMOps fundamentals:
- Crafting evaluation scripts, prompt versioning, and production-ready observability stacks.
- Cloud-nativeness:
