AI Platform Engineer
SALARY: £48,987 - £54,430
LOCATION: Bristol
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of your time, at one of our office sites.
About this opportunity
Join our Analytics & AI Platform, the hub for enabling Analytics & AI across the organisation. This role sits within our Business Intelligence as a Service (BIaaS) Lab, an enablement function focused on delivering our vision for the future of Business Intelligence!
As an AI Platform Engineer, you'll help design, build, implement, scale and support strategic BI and AI platform capabilities used by tens of thousands of colleagues. Working within a feature team alongside Product Owners and multi-skilled engineers, you'll contribute to the evolution of our strategic analytics platforms, including Power BI, Microsoft Fabric and Looker!
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, implementing and supporting BI and AI platform capabilities that enable trusted analytics across the organisation.
- Creating reusable patterns, blueprints, best practices, operating models and standards to support platform adoption and self-service.
- Delivering platform improvements that enhance connectivity between BI applications and cloud or on-premises data sources.
- Contributing to conversational analytics, AI-enabled insight capabilities and semantic data foundations that improve access to information.
- Collaborating with architecture, security, networking and cloud teams to develop secure, scalable and resilient platform solutions.
- Supporting platform simplification and continuous improvement initiatives that improve the experience of BI developers and consumers.

What you'll need
- Experience administering and supporting enterprise BI platforms such as Power BI, Looker or similar technologies.
- Experience designing, implementing or supporting platform services, standards and operational practices within a technology environment.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical stakeholders across architecture, security, networking and cloud functions.
- Knowledge of software engineering principles and how they apply to platform development and service delivery.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues and identify practical solutions.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
And any experience of this would be really useful
- Experience with cloud platform tooling and automation capabilities such as infrastructure-as-code, identity and access management or deployment tooling.
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, AI-enabled analytics capabilities or conversational analytics solutions.
- Knowledge of semantic modelling, knowledge-layer concepts or end-to-end BI data patterns.
