AI Policy Reporter

Newsweek is the global media organization that has earned audience time and trust for more than 90 years. Newsweek reaches 100 million people each month with thought-provoking news, opinion, images, graphics, and video delivered across a dozen print and digital platforms. Headquartered in New York City, Newsweek also publishes international editions in EMEA and Asia.

Newsweek is seeking an AI Policy Reporter to join its UK-based digital newsroom, producing fast, accurate and original coverage of artificial intelligence policy, regulation and governance for an American audience. The reporter will contribute original stories each day, applying strong editorial judgement, rigorous fact-checking and a sound understanding of media law.

Reporting to the News Editor, the AI Policy Reporter will source, pitch, research and develop breaking news, original stories, explainers, features and enterprise reporting. They will obtain on-the record statements from credible sources and subject-matter experts, and add depth to coverage by analysing relevant data, legislation, policy documents and regulatory filings. They will integrate visual elements where appropriate and write clear, engaging digital copy that helps readers understand the political, legal and societal implications of AI.

The reporter will actively monitor a range of sources and platforms, including government announcements, regulatory developments, policy papers, industry reports, social media and Google Trends, to identify emerging stories, conversations and topics of interest to a global audience. They will work effectively to tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom and ensure all coverage is accurate, fair and in line with accepted standards of journalism.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
