PakGroup's internal AI tools from the ground up

PakGroup is looking for an ambitious early-career software engineer to help us build a new generation of internal AI tools, automations and business applications.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building things, learning quickly and solving real business problems.

You will work directly with teams across the business to understand how they work, identify opportunities for improvement, and turn those opportunities into useful software.

You won't be joining a large development team to maintain one small part of an established platform. You'll have the opportunity to take ideas from concept through to working product and see the impact of what you build across the company.

What you'll work on

Projects may include:

  • AI-powered internal assistants and tools
  • workflow automation
  • integrations between business systems
  • document search and analysis
  • customer and sales tools
  • internal dashboards and reporting
  • data extraction and transformation
  • AI agents and structured workflows
  • tools connecting platforms such as ERP, CRM, email and file storage
  • improving and extending existing internal applications

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

We are already developing practical AI and automation tools internally and are now looking for someone to take a major role in building and improving them.

What we're looking for

We're particularly interested in someone with:

  • a Computer Science, Software Engineering or related degree, or equivalent practical experience
  • around 1–3 years of professional software development experience
  • strong Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript skills
  • experience working with APIs
  • an interest in generative AI and modern AI development tools
  • the ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • good problem-solving skills
  • confidence talking directly with non-technical users
  • a practical, curious and self-starting approach

Experience with OpenAI APIs, LLM applications, RAG, agents, React, Next.js, SQL, cloud platforms, n8n, Make, Zapier, Power Automate or similar technologies would be useful, but we do not expect you to know everything already.

What matters most

We care much more about what you can build than the exact technologies on your CV. Personal projects count. If you have built an interesting AI tool, web application, automation, SaaS product, integration or side project, we would like to see it.

You will:

  • build real products used by real employees
  • work directly with business leaders and users
  • own projects rather than just individual development tickets
  • experiment with new AI technologies
  • have considerable freedom in how solutions are designed
  • gain experience across software engineering, AI, automation and product development
  • help shape PakGroup's internal AI capability from an early stage

For the right person, we expect the role to grow significantly as our AI and automation programme develops.

How to apply

Please send:

  • your CV
  • your portfolio or examples of work if available
  • a short description of the most interesting thing you have built

We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate curiosity, initiative and a genuine enthusiasm for building useful software.
