The business

We’re an AI-native, human-led business built to help clients reimagine, reinvent, and lead their markets into the AI era. We bring the imagination, intellect and market insight, execution smarts, and adaptive approach to collaboration required to help leaders deliver real change.

We work with clients in four closely interdependent markets: central Government, including departments, agencies, and strategic, commercial suppliers; health and care, including national bodies, trusts, place-based partners, and commercial and digital suppliers; education, including national bodies, awarding organisations, and front-line institutions; and, the FTSE - principally leveraging our expertise in AI and associated capability building.

Through A Works we collaborate with thought leaders, innovators, and AI-specialist devs to build products which tackle the biggest problems we see in the markets we support – setting aside the consulting commercial model to work in whatever ways best solve the problem.

For example, through Project Shybird, we’re building an AI-powered platform and apps which reimagine the learning value chain: conducting epic capability research, supporting rapid high-quality qualification and programme definition, enabling course design and content creation, personalisation of learning experiences – and new levels of insight for the future.

We’re a business powered by the passion, grit, insight, intellect, and execution-smarts of our people: a tightly knit team of experts, willing to challenge market convention, and our colleagues, in pursuit of the transformational change we believe is possible through the dawn of the AI era.

The role

We’re looking for an experienced, disciplined, and technically robust AI product manager to support the ideation, definition, build, and considered iteration of the products we create through A Works - working with clients, colleagues, and development teams to turn the hardest problems in the markets we serve into products which deliver exponential impact.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

This will principally include product ownership of the suite of solutions we are building through Project Shybird – a pioneering, progressive, piece of work to reinvent the learning value chain with AI, including how markets explore their capability requirements, define qualifications and learning programmes, design courses and create content, support personalised learning experiences, capture and act on deep insights from those experiences.

The successful candidate will have substantial product management experience, gleaned through in-house and / or consulting roles. You will have a strong technical skillset, enabling you to work with colleagues to ideate and define detailed technical requirements; oversee dev teams; and manage acceptance testing processes with business requirements owners.

The role spans the full product lifecycle, including:

  • Conducting market, competitor, and innovation research to inform consideration of where we should / should not invest in product development; what we can learn from others; what we can draw on – and who we can draw in; and, how we can differentiate our solutions.

  • Working with colleagues / clients to define clearly the problem to be solved with a given solution, including the customer pain points, dependencies, scoping boundaries, and success measures. Establishing a deep, substantial, and nuanced, understanding of user needs, workflows, and behaviours through a combination of research, interviews, and business analysis.

  • Supporting colleagues and subject matter experts to define detailed business requirements and translating those business requirements into build-ready functional and non-functional technical requirements which can be used to commission and manage development work.

  • Providing colleagues with sound, evidenced, commercially astute advice on development costs and other considerations including e.g. the relative cost, customer impact, and therefore incremental return on investment of requirements decisions.
