This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an AI Researcher — AI Architecture Research based in United Kingdom.
Join a research-driven team dedicated to advancing the next generation of artificial intelligence through innovative model architecture design. In this role, you'll explore novel approaches to machine learning, bridging cutting-edge theoretical research with practical deployment in production environments. You'll collaborate with experienced researchers and engineers to develop, evaluate, and optimize new AI architectures that push the boundaries of performance, scalability, and efficiency. Accountabilities
- Research, design, and evaluate novel AI model architectures beyond traditional Transformer-based approaches.
- Investigate new techniques to improve model scalability, computational efficiency, training stability, and inference performance.
- Prototype innovative architectures and validate their effectiveness through rigorous experimentation, benchmarking, and ablation studies.
- Author and co-author high-quality research papers for leading machine learning conferences, journals, and preprint platforms.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to translate research breakthroughs into production-ready training and inference systems.
- Monitor emerging advancements in artificial intelligence research and identify promising directions for future innovation.
- Contribute to defining the long-term research roadmap and influence the evolution of next-generation AI models.

Requirements
- Strong academic or industrial research background in machine learning, with a specialization in AI model architecture.
- Demonstrated publication record in recognized AI or machine learning venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, COLM, ACL, EMNLP, or arXiv.
- Deep understanding of neural network architectures, sequence modeling, attention mechanisms, optimization techniques, and training dynamics.
- Hands-on experience developing machine learning models using PyTorch or JAX.
- Proven ability to design rigorous experiments, analyze results critically, and communicate research findings effectively.
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving, collaborative startup environment with a high level of ownership.
- Experience with non-Transformer architectures, long-context models, state-space models, hybrid architectures, or memory-efficient AI systems is highly valued.
- Familiarity with efficient training techniques, inference optimization, open-source research contributions, or production AI systems is considered an advantage.
