The AI Security Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and assuring the secure adoption of Artificial Intelligence technologies across the organisation. The role provides architectural leadership for AI security, risk management, governance, and control frameworks, ensuring AI solutions are deployed in a secure, compliant, and responsible manner while enabling innovation and business value.

Based at:

Remote with travel to London and Portsmouth as required

Scope:

The AI Security Architect acts as the subject matter expert for AI-related security and controls, working closely with security, architecture, risk, compliance, legal, data, and business teams to establish secure-by-design AI capabilities and operating models.

This is both a strategic and hands-on technical role requiring expertise in Microsoft security and compliance technologies, cloud architecture, identity management, and AI governance practices

Purpose

This role will focus on securing and governing AI technologies within a Microsoft enterprise environment, including Microsoft 365, Azure, Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, and associated AI agent frameworks.

The successful candidate will design and implement enterprise guardrails, monitoring capabilities, identity controls, and governance mechanisms that enable secure adoption of AI while protecting organisational data, users, and systems.

Role

  • Define and maintain AI security architecture principles, standards, and reference architectures.
  • Promote secure and responsible AI practices across Bell
  • Establish AI security requirements, policies, standards, risks, and control frameworks
  • Ensure appropriate controls are embedded throughout the AI lifecycle, from design through deployment and operation.
  • Promote awareness and education on AI security, governance, and responsible AI practices
  • Contribute to AI strategy, roadmaps, and technology investment decisions.
  • Provide architectural guidance for the adoption of AI technologies across business functions and ensure secure onboarding processes for AI tools, platforms, and third-party AI services.
  • Design and implement technical controls for enterprise AI services including Microsoft Copilot, Azure OpenAI, Power Platform AI capabilities, and custom AI agents.
  • Leverage Microsoft Purview, Defender, Entra ID, Active Directory and Intune to secure environments to ensure full observability.
  • Provide technical security assessments, support development teams, and assist with the implementation and validation of security controls.

Person Specification

We are looking for someone with strategic thinking and architectural leadership as well as hands on delivery. Someone with strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Ability to undertake risk-based decision making and balance innovation with security and compliance requirements.

  • Strong background in Cyber Security and Security Architecture
  • Experience designing and implementing AI security controls for cloud and enterprise platforms.
  • Understanding of AI, Machine Learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI, and AI agent technologies.
  • Knowledge of security risk management, governance, compliance, and assurance frameworks.
  • Experience conducting threat modelling, security assessments, and architecture reviews.
  • Experience with Microsoft Copilot, Azure AI, OpenAI, AWS AI services, Anthropic AI and similar platforms
  • Knowledge of NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF), ISO 42001, ISO 27001, NCSC guidance, and relevant AI regulations
  • Experience of working within a Microsoft first Enterprise

Desirable

  • Relevant certifications in Security Architecture, Cloud Security, Risk Management, or AI Governance
  • CISSP, CCSP, or equivalent security certifications.
