AI Security Engineer
Location: Leeds, UK (Hybrid - 2 days in a week)
Role Purpose
Secure AI, machine learning and generative AI solutions across enterprise environments. Embed security controls throughout the AI lifecycle and strengthen safeguards for LLMs, models, data pipelines and AI-enabled applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform security assessments and threat modelling for AI, ML, generative AI and LLM-based solutions.
- Design and implement AI security controls, guardrails and monitoring capabilities.
- Conduct AI red team exercises covering prompt injection, jailbreaks, model manipulation, data leakage and adversarial attacks.
- Secure model development, training, evaluation, deployment and operational environments.
- Embed security within AI CI/CD pipelines and configuration management processes.
- Partner with data scientists, AI engineers, architects, governance and risk teams.
- Define AI security standards, patterns and control requirements aligned to enterprise governance.
- Analyze emerging AI threats and continuously improve defensive controls and testing approaches.

Essential Experience And Skills
- Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience, including substantial hands-on experience in the core specialisms of this role.
- Strong knowledge of AI security engineering and AI/ML lifecycle risks.
- Experience securing LLMs, foundation models and generative AI applications.
- Hands-on AI red teaming, threat modelling, vulnerability assessment and security testing.
- Secure CI/CD, DevSecOps and secure configuration management.
- Understanding of AI governance, guardrails, model risk and responsible AI controls.
- Cloud security, scripting and automation skills.

Qualifications And Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in cyber security, computer science, engineering, data science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- CISSP, CCSP, CISM or equivalent is desirable.
- Microsoft, AWS or Google cloud security certification is desirable.
- AI governance, responsible AI, ML security or penetration testing certification is advantageous.
