About the Role

I’m working with an early-stage start-up being built within an established asset management business, creating a new AI-enabled hedge fund.

They’re keeping the team deliberately small and are looking for a strong Software Engineer to join as one of the early technology hires.

You’ll be working across the platform, building research and screening tools, backend services, data pipelines and AI-enabled applications used directly within the investment process. They already have LLM and RAG capabilities in place, so this isn’t a pure AI Engineer role. They need someone with strong software engineering fundamentals who can build production-grade systems around the AI.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Hedge fund experience isn’t essential. They’re more interested in finding a strong engineer who has worked in an environment where they’ve had to wear different hats, solve problems, and get things into production.
