This is the job

Shape the future of Enterprise AI

Artificial Intelligence is transforming the way organisations operate, and at The AA we are building the architecture that will power the next generation of intelligent products, services and internal capabilities.

We are looking for an experienced Architect who combines strong architecture fundamentals with a practical understanding of modern AI and Generative AI. You do not need to be an AI Engineer or Machine Learning specialist, but you will understand how technologies such as Large Language Models, Retrieval Augmented Generation and AI agents come together to solve real business problems.

This is a genuinely hands on architecture role. You will design secure, scalable and production ready AI solutions, make and articulate key technology decisions and remain close to engineering teams throughout design and delivery. You will need the technical depth to understand how AI solutions work, challenge design choices and explain the rationale and trade-offs behind your architectural decisions.

Working across engineering, data, product and security, you will also build strong partnerships with senior stakeholders and help shape how AI is adopted responsibly and effectively across The AA.

It is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced architect who wants to apply their architecture expertise to one of the fastest evolving areas of technology and play a meaningful role in shaping enterprise AI at The AA.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What will I be doing?

  • Design end to end AI and Generative AI solution architectures that are scalable, secure, resilient and aligned with business outcomes and enterprise standards.
  • Translate complex business challenges into pragmatic AI solutions, selecting appropriate technologies and architectural patterns and clearly articulating the rationale, trade-offs and risks behind your decisions.
  • Design solutions using modern AI patterns including Retrieval Augmented Generation, Large Language Models, AI agents, orchestration and enterprise integration.
  • Work closely with engineering, data, product and security teams throughout design, build and implementation, providing hands on architectural guidance and resolving technical challenges as solutions move towards production.
  • Act as a technical authority for AI architecture, ensuring solutions balance innovation with security, governance, Responsible AI, operational resilience and long-term maintainability.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior technical and business stakeholders, simplifying complex concepts and influencing technology decisions and the wider AI roadmap.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies, platforms and architectural patterns, assessing their suitability against business value, technical fit, scalability, cost and organisational risk.
  • Contribute to reusable AI reference architectures, design patterns and architectural standards that enable AI capabilities to be adopted consistently across the organisation.

What do I need?

  • Strong experience as a Solutions Architect, Technical Architect or similar, designing and delivering complex enterprise scale technology solutions.
  • Practical experience designing AI or Generative AI solutions, with the architectural depth to explain how different components work together and why particular technologies or patterns were selected.
  • Strong working understanding of modern AI architecture, including Large Language Models, Retrieval Augmented Generation, embeddings and vector search, AI agents and orchestration patterns.
  • The ability to evaluate technology options and clearly articulate architectural decisions, trade-offs and risks rather than simply applying predefined technologies or patterns.
  • A hands-on approach to architecture, remaining close to engineering and delivery teams throughout design, build and implementation and providing credible technical guidance when challenges arise.
  • Experience designing secure, scalable and resilient cloud native solutions within Azure, AWS or a comparable cloud environment.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture considerations including APIs and integration, security, data, observability, governance, operational resilience and Responsible AI.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for different audiences and build trusted partnerships across engineering, product, security, data and the wider business.
  • A collaborative and curious mindset, with a genuine interest in emerging AI technologies and the judgement to determine where they can deliver meaningful business value.
