AI Solutions Engineer

Location: Exeter

Salary: Up to £45k DOE

Permanent | Full-time

The Opportunity

We're working with an established business that are looking to make AI a meaningful part of how they operate.

Rather than implementing AI for the sake of it, they want to identify where the technology can genuinely make a difference, reducing manual processes, improving access to information, connecting systems, and helping teams work more effectively.

They're now looking for an AI Solutions Engineer to help make that happen.

This is a new role with plenty of scope to shape the company's approach to AI. You'll work across the business to understand existing processes, identify opportunities for AI and automation, and then design, build, and implement practical solutions.

You'll be joining at the beginning of the journey, so this would suit someone who enjoys taking an idea from "could AI help us do this?" through to a working solution people actually use.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll work closely with teams across the business to understand how they operate and where technology could improve existing processes.

That could include:

  • Identifying opportunities to use AI and automation across different business functions.
  • Mapping existing workflows and spotting repetitive, manual, or inefficient processes.
  • Designing, prototyping and implementing AI-powered tools and workflows.
  • Exploring the use of generative AI, LLMs, AI agents and intelligent automation.
  • Integrating AI solutions with existing business systems, applications, and data.
  • Evaluating third-party AI products and deciding where building, buying, or integrating makes most sense.
  • Developing proof-of-concepts and turning successful ideas into reliable solutions.
  • Working with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business challenges into technical solutions.
  • Helping establish appropriate standards around AI security, data privacy, governance, and responsible use.
  • Supporting teams as new tools are introduced and helping drive adoption across the business.
  • Keeping up with developments in AI and identifying technologies that could deliver genuine business value.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The role isn't about experimenting with AI in isolation. It's about finding opportunities that matter and delivering solutions that improve how the business works.

What We're Looking For

You don’t need to have years of experience in AI.

We're more interested in someone who can combine technical AI capability with commercial thinking and strong communication skills.

You'll ideally have experience with some of the following (but this could be through education):

  • Building or implementing practical AI solutions.
  • Generative AI and Large Language Models.
  • APIs, integrations and automation.
  • Python or another relevant programming language.
  • AI platforms and tools such as OpenAI/Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot or similar technologies.
  • Prompt engineering, RAG, AI agents or intelligent workflow automation.
  • Working with business systems and data.
  • Taking technical projects from discovery and prototype through to implementation.

Just as importantly, you'll be comfortable speaking with non-technical stakeholders, asking the right questions and turning operational problems into practical solutions.

Experience within construction, engineering or another operationally complex environment would be useful, but isn't essential.

Why This Role?

This isn't a position where you'll inherit a long list of established AI systems to maintain.

You'll have the opportunity to help determine where AI fits within the business in the first place.

You'll work across different areas of the organisation, have the freedom to explore new technologies and play a key role in building an AI capability that can grow with the company.

For someone who likes solving problems, building things, and seeing technology make a tangible difference, there's a lot of scope to make this role your own.

This is a fully office-based role in Exeter, so applicants should be able to commute to the office daily. We welcome applications from both recent graduates with relevant qualifications and candidates with commercial experience. Unfortunately, visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
