AI Leadership with a Physical-Systems/Solutions Edge - Exploring Interest, Not Actively Hiring Yet
I'm having early conversations on behalf of a profitable, independent, deep-tech robotics company in London that is about to formally define a senior AI/technical leadership hire.
Nothing is live yet - this is genuine market mapping before a role is built, and I would love to hear from people who might be a fit, whether or not the timing works right now.
This one is less about a robotics background specifically and much more about genuine depth in AI and cognitive systems - the kind of experience that means you can lead a technical team made up of hardware and software engineers through real uncertainty, not just talk about it.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What matters most is that somewhere in your journey you have worked closely with a physical or hardware system, so you understand what it actually takes to turn AI capability into something that ships and works in the real world, rather than staying a demo. Where you started your career matters far less than where your depth sits today.
A pure AI and software/SaaS background won’t cut it in this role.

If any of this resonates - whether your path has been software-first with real hardware exposure along the way, or you have spent years building the AI layer on top of a physical product - I would value a conversation. No pitch, no vacancy details, just understanding what is out there and what would genuinely move someone right now.
Both full-time and part-time/fractional arrangements are being considered, so please do not rule yourself out on that basis alone.
Drop me a message, comment, or your CV, and I will follow up directly.
