Role Overview
The AI & Spatial Intelligence Lead shapes and delivers AI-first solutions that combine data engineering, advanced analytics, machine learning, and intelligent agents with enterprise geospatial platforms. The role turns complex spatial, asset, operational, and external data into trusted decisions and automated workflows, then applies these capabilities to asset-intensive industries including utilities, energy, natural resources, transport, and infrastructure. This is a client-facing, commercially active leadership role responsible for shaping engagements, growing the pipeline, and building a differentiated spatial AI capability.
In this role, you will:
- Data Engineering
- Design governed data products and scalable pipelines that integrate geospatial, asset, operational, imagery, IoT, and enterprise data across cloud and edge environments.
- Analytics & AI
- Apply spatial analytics, machine learning, computer vision, optimization, knowledge graphs, and digital twins to predict risk, identify patterns, and improve decisions.
- Agents & Automation
- Create AI agents and agentic workflows that discover data, reason across spatial and asset context, generate recommendations, orchestrate actions, and keep humans in control.
- Responsible AI
- Embed security, governance, explainability, monitoring, data lineage, and human oversight from solution design through scaled operation.
- AI Product Leadership
- Translate business outcomes into reusable AI products, accelerators, reference architectures, and adoption roadmaps with measurable value.
What You Will Do
- Lead AI and spatial intelligence advisory, data strategy, architecture, experimentation, and implementation engagements from opportunity shaping through managed delivery.
- Architect end-to-end data flows and data products across GIS, EAM, CMMS, SCADA, IoT, imagery, and enterprise data platforms, ensuring quality, interoperability, lineage, and spatial integrity.
- Design and deploy analytics and AI solutions for network analysis, geostatistical modeling, anomaly detection, predictive risk scoring, computer vision, route optimization, and investment optimization.
- Define and implement intelligent agents that support planners, engineers, field teams, and executives through contextual search, scenario analysis, recommendations, workflow orchestration, and decision support.
- Lead enterprise GIS and spatial AI solutions using ESRI ArcGIS Pro, Enterprise and Utility Network, GE Smallworld, cloud data platforms, APIs, and modern AI services.
- Build and qualify a pipeline of AI and geospatial opportunities across AMP8, RIIO-3, and major capital programmes. Lead proposals, demonstrations, executive workshops, and value cases.
- Recruit and mentor multidisciplinary teams spanning AI, data engineering, analytics, GIS, architecture, and industry consulting. Establish standards, toolkits, and reusable delivery methods.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
