The AI Programme
This three-year programme is funded by the GLA aligning with their new ‘AI mission’ which has established an AI taskforce to look at the future of jobs and has goals such as providing ‘free AI skills training for Londoners’. This also delivers a key recommendation of L&P’s Business Support Strategy of supporting under-represented founders with AI adoption.
This is a high profile and ambitious programme which will aim to support a high number of businesses, from different sizes and sectors. The delivery model is currently being designed but it is likely to include: an awareness campaign, a range of online and face-to-face activities adapted to support different business audiences, from online training and content resources to a more in-depth accelerator programme.
Purpose of the role
The AI Technology Adoption Specialist will support SMEs across London to transform their businesses through the integration of AI technologies and solutions to support business productivity - freeing up time to do other work, growth and competitiveness. Acting as the main point of contact for clients, the TAS will develop bespoke AI transformation roadmaps, provide specialist advice, and manage relationships with relevant SME sector networks to support engagement onto the programme.
The TAS will operate all across London to deliver workshops for SMEs supported through the programme, and will work from the L&P main office as well as remotely.
Key Tasks
Client Engagement & Relationship Management
- Act as the primary contact for SMEs participating in the AI Integrate Accelerator programme.
- Build strong relationships with clients and understand their business needs and challenges.
- Each TAS will manage a portfolio of approximately 40 London-based SME manufacturers over the lifetime of the programme.
Technology Advisory & Roadmap Development
- Assess client readiness for AI digital transformation and identify suitable ongoing support.
- Develop tailored technology adoption roadmaps to support business growth and efficiency.
- Deliver 1-1 specialist advice and technical initiatives that support SMEs their implementation of AI technologies solutions.
- Work with the Small Business Unit teams to identify and signpost alternative support offered by London and Partners.
- Share SME and delivery insights to support the Programme Manager and Senior Technology Adoption Specialist develop targeted interventions that; increase the Integrate Accelerator’s outcomes and impact for SMEs and, improve operations for enhanced team performance.
- Maintain a high level of awareness of new technology developments and understanding of their industrial application.
Outreach, Networking & Promotion
- Proactively engage with SME businesses across London in order to promote the programme and encourage registrations of SMEs that align to the programme priorities of inclusivity – reaching sub-regions, sectors and EDI-led SMEs.
- Liaising with cross-functional teams (Regional Managers and Business Support Managers) to access and engage with networks and communities.
- Represent the programme at sub-regional business and industry events and liaise with SME sector networks, to increase visibility of the programme and impact we deliver, and building collaborative relationships to support programme delivery.
- Assist our marketing resources in the development of good quality case studies. Identify a diverse range of SME's stories that align to L&P and programme strategic areas.

Project Delivery & Monitoring
- Coordinate site visits and remote consultations to ensure successful implementation.
- Monitor progress against agreed transformation plans and provide ongoing support.
- Track engagements and activities with clients in our CRM system, maintaining up to date records for impact tracking and funder reporting.
- Work with our course providers to ensure course content is relevant to clients' needs
You’ll have/bring
Experience
- Proven experience in advising on or implementing AI technology solutions within SME contexts.
- Proven experience working with businesses to achieve outcomes such as: Increased productivity, Enhanced competitiveness, Improved operational efficiency, Development of new or improved products and services, Improved customer experience
- Track record of working with SMEs, understanding their business and operational challenges, diagnosing business needs and developing practical strategic action plans for applying AI and digital technologies.
- Experience supporting businesses through technology adoption, from identifying and prioritising use cases through to experimentation, implementation and integration.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and relationship management, including working with senior management and translating business requirements into practical technology recommendations.
- Experience delivering training, workshops or one-to-one technical support relating to AI, digital technologies or business improvement.
- Understanding and experience of project management techniques.
- Experience of government-funded programmes, innovation programmes or business support initiatives. (Desirable)

- Strong understanding and technical skills across AI technologies and solutions and their practical application within SMEs, including:
- Generative AI and large language models (LLMs)
- Prompt engineering
- AI-enabled automation and workflow optimisation
- Machine learning and predictive analytics
- Data analytics and AI-driven insights
- Natural language processing and conversational AI
- Computer vision and image recognition
- AI agents and agentic solutions
- Integration of AI tools with existing business systems and processes
- Strong understanding of data literacy and data readiness for AI, including data quality, accessibility, governance and the role of data in enabling effective AI solutions.
- Strong understanding of responsible AI, including data privacy, security, ethics, bias, transparency, governance and appropriate human oversight.
- Understanding of digital transformation and AI adoption principles, including how to evaluate opportunities and solutions based on business need, technical feasibility, organisational readiness, potential value, risk and limitations.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in digital technology, computer science, data, engineering, business technology or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
