Job Description & Summary
About the role
The AI & Technology Strategist is a hands-on, client-facing senior advisory role positioned at the heart of Strategy&, PwC's global strategy practice, within our market-leading Deals business. This is a team that is fundamentally shaping how private equity sponsors and corporates harness technology and AI to create, protect, and realise value through transactions and transformations.
Combining deep industry expertise in one of the following: financial services, insurance, professional services, retail, and technology sectors with a commercial value mindset and technical fluency, you will work directly with corporate leadership teams, PE-backed management teams, and mid-market portfolio companies to reimagine their businesses through AI-driven solutions. You will work with our strategy and operations teams to take AI strategy through to execution; from identifying high-impact opportunities and building compelling investment cases, to prototyping AI solutions that deliver rapid value and designing end-to-end transformation programmes that embed technology at the heart of client operations. This role is instrumental in translating those opportunities into measurable outcomes and driving technology-enabled transformation across mid-market and large-cap environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and executing enterprise technology and AI strategies aligned to value creation plans for corporates and mid-market portfolio companies, working closely with deal teams, PE sponsors, and corporate leadership to turn technology insight into commercial advantage.
- Leading executive-level workshops to identify business challenges, articulating the "art of the possible" with AI and technology and defining a clear path to value for senior leadership teams.
- Building robust investment theses and business cases that clearly articulate the commercial return on technology and AI initiatives, identifying, prioritising, and road mapping high-impact technology opportunities.
- Working alongside Strategy& operations teams to advise clients on how AI, including agentic AI, is reshaping operating models and business processes, providing technical inputs that inform the redesign of workflows, organisational structures, and end-to-end process architecture to unlock efficiency, scalability, and competitive advantage.
- Collaborating with our AI forward deployed engineers to shape the design and deployment of AI solutions, contributing strategic direction to pilot projects and proofs-of-value that demonstrate tangible impact and inform the case for full-scale adoption.
- Providing strategic oversight across multiple engagements, ensuring alignment between technology investment and measurable business outcomes, and maintaining quality and rigour across concurrent workstreams.
- Playing a critical role in growing our AI and technology strategy proposition within Strategy& Deals, contributing to thought leadership, go-to-market activity, and the development of new client propositions that reflect the central role technology now plays in deal value creation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
