The Air Conditioning Engineer role is a full-time, on-site position based in St Albans. The engineer will install, commission, maintain, and repair air conditioning and HVAC systems in commercial and public sector buildings, ensuring reliable, efficient operation.
Daily responsibilities include:
- Diagnosing faults
- Performing routine and reactive maintenance
- Completing service reports
- Adhering to all relevant UK and European safety and regulatory standards
The role involves working closely with project managers, other engineers, and clients to deliver high-quality workmanship and meet project timelines. The engineer will also support building services projects by providing technical input, assisting with system upgrades, and contributing to continuous improvement of maintenance practices.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in HVAC systems, including installation, commissioning, fault diagnosis, and repair.
- Experience in Building Services, with the ability to work on integrated mechanical and electrical systems.
- Competence in Building Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair tasks across commercial and public buildings.
- Understanding of Facility Management (FM) principles, including planned preventive maintenance and asset care.
- Relevant technical qualification (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent) in refrigeration, air conditioning, or building services engineering.
- Knowledge of UK and European regulatory standards, health and safety practices, and industry best practice.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications, with sound problem-solving skills.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites in and around St Albans as required.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
