Air Freight Business Development Manager
Location: Heathrow
Salary: £50,000 to £70,000 + performance-related bonus
Hours: Monday to Friday
We are recruiting an experienced Air Freight Business Development Manager to join the expanding UK sales team of a long-established global freight forwarder.
This is an excellent opportunity to represent a highly respected international business with a strong global network, competitive freight solutions and ambitious plans for continued growth.
You will be responsible for securing profitable new business across the UK, with a strong focus on air freight. Experience selling ocean freight, multimodal services or specialist vertical solutions would also be advantageous.
The Role
- Identify and secure profitable new air freight business
- Develop and manage a strong pipeline of prospective customers
- Manage the complete sales process from initial contact through to account implementation
- Prepare quotations, tenders, RFQs and tailored logistics solutions
- Negotiate rates and commercial agreements with customers
- Build lasting relationships with customers, overseas offices and internal teams
- Work closely with operations to ensure new accounts are implemented successfully
- Achieve agreed gross profit, volume and new-business targets
- Maintain accurate sales activity and pipeline information through the company CRM

About You
This position requires an established freight forwarding sales professional who can demonstrate a successful track record of winning new business.
The successful candidate will have:
- Strong air freight business development experience
- Proven freight forwarding sales experience
- A track record of securing profitable new customers
- Good knowledge of air freight pricing, margins and operational requirements
- Strong negotiation, presentation and relationship-building skills
- A commercially focused and results-driven approach
- The confidence to manage your own diary and sales pipeline
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills

Additional ocean freight or multimodal experience would be beneficial.
You must live within a reasonable commuting distance of Heathrow and be willing to travel regularly to the company’s Birmingham office, where the wider UK sales team is based. Some additional UK and international travel may also be required.
Salary and Benefits
- Basic salary of £60,000 to £70,000, depending on experience
- Company car or car allowance
- Performance-related sales bonus uncapped
