Air Freight Manager
Sea Air and Land Forwarding is seeking an experienced Air Freight Manager to join our operations team in Greenford, London.
This is a hands-on role for an experienced air-freight professional who can manage import and export shipments from quotation and booking through to customs clearance and final delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Manage air-freight import and export shipments from booking through to final delivery.
- Coordinate shipments with customers, airlines, handling agents, overseas agents, customs representatives, and business partners.
- Arrange bookings and confirm schedules, routing, space availability, and shipment requirements.
- Prepare and monitor air-freight, transport, customs, and clearance documentation.
- Check shipment documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Provide customers with regular and accurate shipment updates.
- Prepare quotations, rate offers, and shipment-cost information.
- Negotiate rates with airlines, carriers, and overseas agents where required.
- Monitor live shipments and identify potential delays or operational issues.
- Resolve documentation, customs, airline, collection, and delivery problems.
- Ensure shipments comply with company procedures, customer requirements, and relevant regulations.
- Maintain accurate shipment, costing, and customer records.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and business partners.

Skills and experience required
- Strong experience in air-freight import and export operations.
- Experience handling shipments from quotation and booking through to customs clearance and delivery.
- Good knowledge of air-freight documentation and operational procedures.
- Understanding of customs-clearance requirements and freight compliance.
- Experience preparing quotations and calculating shipment costs.
- Strong customer-service and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage several live shipments at the same time.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond calmly to delays.
- Confidence communicating with customers, airlines, overseas agents, and customs representatives.
- Experience using freight-forwarding or logistics operating systems.
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership of shipments.
