Job Title: Aircraft Ground Handler and Driver

Location: Shropshire, England
Compensation: £30,604.97 + Benefits
Role Type: Full time / Permanent
Role ID: SF75122

About the Role

Keep aircraft moving. Support vital flying operations.

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. If you join us, you can play your part as an Aircraft Ground Handler and Driver at RAF Cosford, near Wolverhampton, Shropshire.

The Role

As an Aircraft Ground Handler and Driver, you'll play a key role in supporting flight-line operations at RAF Cosford. This is a varied, hands-on position combining specialist driving responsibilities with aircraft ground handling duties, helping to ensure aircraft are prepared, serviced and ready to fly safely and efficiently.

Working as part of a dedicated operational team, you'll support flying activities through fuel vehicle operations, aircraft handling, ground support equipment checks, and general airfield support tasks. If you enjoy practical work, responsibility, and being part of a team that directly contributes to aviation operations, this could be the role for you.

Day-to-day, you will be:

  • Driving fuel bowsers and carrying out vehicle checks to support daily flying operations.
  • Assisting with the safe ground movement and handling of aircraft on the flight line.
  • Preparing aircraft for flying activities, including see-in, see-off, fuel, and oil replenishment activities.
  • Conducting daily aircraft and ground support equipment inspections and basic authorized maintenance activities.
  • Supporting housekeeping, aircraft cleaning, and wider operational tasks across the site.

This role is full time, based on site at RAF Cosford, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend working. Shift patterns and timings may change to support site operational requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
