Location: Coventry, CV8 3AZ
Hours: Full time, 40hpw - providing Airdesk cover between the hours of 07:00 - 22:00
Please note the service operates 365 days a year so there will be a requirement to work occasional bank holidays and weekends.
Salary: Basic £28,857.94, plus a monthly premium of £231

As an Air Desk Coordinator with the National Children’s Air Ambulance, you’ll be at the heart of our operation, coordinating our specialist helicopter transfers for critically ill babies and children across the UK.
From managing flight logistics and liaising with clinical teams to monitoring missions in real time, you’ll ensure every transfer runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently. This isn’t simply a logistics role — it’s operating in a high-stakes environment where every decision matters.
You’ll combine skills such as operational precision, excellent communication, calm under pressure, and a strong sense of purpose. Every flight you help coordinate is part of a flying intensive care unit that can reduce transit time dramatically and provide an outstanding service to our NHS Clinical teams and patients.

What You’ll Be Doing
Airdesk Operations
- Coordinate the day-to-day running of the NCAA Airdesk to ensure quick and efficient aircraft mobilization.
- Work in partnership with CPTs and flight crews to deliver an outstanding service.
- Liaise with hospitals, landing sites, airports, and emergency services to support safe operations.
- Prioritize and adapt to changing needs in a dynamic environment.
Continuous Improvement & Administration
- Help meet service performance targets and share feedback where improvements can be made.
- Record and report operational data accurately.
- Complete incident reports and other required documentation.
- Provide administrative support and complete general tasks as directed by the Airdesk Team Leader.
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate and support with training days and education events both internally and externally.
- Champion the work of The Children’s Air Ambulance whenever opportunities arise.
- Support charity events and fundraising activities.
- Take on any other reasonable duties to support the smooth running of our operations.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Experience of either working within a control room environment, or a coordinating call centre type role, including scheduling and urgent response.
- Good communication skills with the ability to communicate appropriately and effectively in person, over the phone/virtually, by radio, and in writing.
- Knowledge of The Children’s Air Ambulance, its organizational values, and the service it provides.
- Be able to demonstrate an understanding for the need for confidentiality and how this can be maintained.
- Have a high attention to detail and level of accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-moving situations.
- Full UK manual driving licence.
- MS Office Skills.

Desirable
- Experience of supporting or being involved in aeromedical retrievals/transfers.
- Ability to accurately complete reports by reviewing analysis and compiling data.
- Understanding of NHS paediatric and neonatal retrieval teams and ambulance services.
