2Excel Group is seeking an Airfield Operations Manager to take ownership of the safe, secure and compliant management of airfield activities. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring operational risks are controlled to ALARP principles, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, regulatory compliance and operational readiness.

About The Role

As Airfield Operations Manager, you will oversee all aspects of airfield operations, onsite security management, emergency response capability, fire crew provision and fuel operations. Working closely with internal stakeholders, regulators, service providers and airspace users, you will ensure that the airfield operates safely, efficiently and in full compliance with aviation regulations and company requirements.

The day-to-day duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Plan, coordinate and control aircraft movements across the airfield.
  • Monitor airfield infrastructure and operating surfaces, liaising with aviation partners and service providers.
  • Manage operational risk assessments, reporting processes and internal audits.
  • Chair Airfield Safety Meetings and drive continuous safety improvements.
  • Support the delivery and assurance of effective site-wide security arrangements.
  • Ensure security policies, procedures and response measures remain effective and compliant.
  • Manage fire crew capability, ensuring personnel, equipment and records remain operationally ready.
  • Coordinate responses to aviation emergencies, security incidents, unauthorised access, suspicious items and other critical events and Ensure incidents are fully investigated
  • Maintain oversight of fuelling and defuelling activities, equipment, training and emergency controls.
  • Maintain and review operational, security and emergency response risk assessments.
  • Support internal audits, customer assurance activities and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate compliance records, training evidence and assurance documentation.
  • Manage training and competency frameworks for operational, security, fuel and emergency response personnel.
  • Coordinate exercises, drills and competency assessments.
  • Promote a positive safety, security and compliance culture across the organisation.

  • Strong understanding of airfield operations, aircraft ground movements and operational safety.
  • Knowledge of UK aviation regulations, CAA/CAP guidance and Safety Management Systems.
  • Experience managing operational risk assessments, hazard reporting and audit processes.
  • Experience overseeing airfield security arrangements and responding to security incidents.
  • Understanding of aviation fuel operations and associated risks.
  • Experience supporting emergency response, incident management and business continuity activities.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and decision-making skills.
