Role: Airfield Operations Technician
Location: Boscombe Down
Duration: 3 months
Rate: £22/hour PAYE
Inside IR35: PAYE
Role Purpose
Support aircraft ground handling and airfield operations activities at MOD Boscombe Down.
- Contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of flying operations in a dynamic aviation environment.
- Provide operational support for aircraft movements and associated airfield activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Aircraft marshalling and ground movement operations.
- Aircraft towing operations.
- Support aircraft arrival and departure activities.
- Operate specialist vehicles including aircraft tugs, sweepers, and forklift trucks (where qualified).
- Carry out daily vehicle inspections and report defects.
- Maintain accurate operational records and documentation.
- Comply with all aviation safety, airfield operating, and company procedures.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience in aviation ground operations, aircraft handling, airfield operations, or a similar operational environment.
- Knowledge of aircraft marshalling procedures.
- Knowledge of aircraft towing procedures.
- Knowledge of aircraft arrival and departure operations.
- Full UK driving licence and ability to meet CP2 Safe Colour Perception standards (essential requirement for airfield operations duties).
- Ability to work safely in a busy operational airfield environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexible approach to changing operational demands.

Desirable Skills & Experience
- Previous military or civilian airfield operations experience.
- Fixed wing and/or rotary wing aircraft handling experience.
- Category C (HGV) driving licence.
- Fork Lift Truck licence.
- Human Factors training.
- Knowledge of aviation Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements.
