Airfield Support Team Supervisor

Location: RAF Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, OX18 3LX
Salary: Competitive salary plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Full-time. Role includes occasional travel for training, meetings and MoD site visits.

As an Airfield Support Team Supervisor in our Defence Airfield Services team, you'll lead the day-to-day delivery of critical airfield support activities at RAF Brize Norton. You'll ensure technical services are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with Royal Air Force and Serco requirements, helping to support essential aviation operations.

By leading a skilled team responsible for air traffic management equipment safeguarding, radio communications systems and operational support services, you'll help maintain a safe operating environment that supports military aviation activities. You'll work closely with Royal Air Force stakeholders, create impactful solutions, drive continuous improvement and make a positive impact on operational capability, safety and the future success of the service.

What you'll do as an Airfield Support Team Supervisor

  • Lead and supervise the day-to-day delivery of Airfield Support Team activities, allocating work and resources to meet operational requirements.
  • Ensure air traffic management equipment technical safeguarding activities are completed in accordance with regulatory and local requirements.
  • Oversee the control, maintenance, servicing and installation of radio communications equipment, antennas and related systems.
  • Manage station frequency allocations, renewals and associated stakeholder communications.
  • Promote a Zero Harm culture by ensuring safety concerns, hazards and compliance issues are reported and addressed appropriately.
  • Support, develop and coach colleagues while monitoring performance, competency and training requirements.

  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience with the ability to prioritise work, manage performance and develop colleagues.
  • Knowledge of air traffic control ground radio communications systems, aviation engineering environments or comparable technical operations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust and effective working relationships.
  • Confident problem solver who can make sound decisions, manage competing priorities and respond effectively under pressure.
  • Able to obtain and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance, hold a full UK driving licence with fewer than six penalty points and meet the required colour perception standard.

Vetting and checks:

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, you will need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
