Airport Ground Services Operator Team Leader | Circa £33,700 + excellent benefits | Permanent | Onsite | Gamston (Retford) Airport
We’re looking for an Airport Ground Services Operator Team Leader to join the team at Gamston Aviation Limited. This is a hands-on, operational leadership role where you’ll help ensure the smooth, safe and efficient running of the airport on a day-to-day basis.
You’ll supervise and support the AGSO team, help deliver excellent service to pilots, passengers, airfield users and tenants, and play an important role in maintaining safe airside operations. Working closely with the Airport Manager and wider airport team, you’ll help ensure activities are carried out in line with local procedures, CAA requirements and the airport’s safety standards.
As the Airport Ground Services Operator Team Leader, you'll:
- Take responsibility for the provision of an Emergency Response as SAFO (Senior Airport Firefighting Officer), including leading training of new recruits on hot fires, pump and appliance operation and rescue operations.
- Lead and support the AGSO team in the delivery of safe and efficient airport operations.
- Lead daily airfield activities, ensuring compliance with operational and safety standards.
- Lead and participate with aircraft ground handling, tugging aircraft, runway inspections, fueling aircraft and airfield maintenance activities.
- Manage team rosters, training and development including an annual goal and review process
- Foster a positive, safety-focused culture and deliver excellent customer service to airport users and visitors.
Skills & experience that will set you up for success in this role:
- Experience in an emergency response team (Airport, Ambulance, Fire Service or Police service)
- Experience in Aviation, airfield, ground operations or other safety-critical environment.
- Previous team leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience with rota and resource management
- Strong communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure.
- A proactive, flexible and customer-focused approach.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Full UK driving license.
This role is based on-site, at Retford Gamston Airport, Nottinghamshire DN22 0QL.

When we work 🕒
You’ll join a 2-week shift pattern, based on 4 shifts on and 4 shifts off, covering the Airport opening hours:
- 07:30 to 18:00 Monday to Friday
- 08:30 to 18:00 Saturday/Sunday and Bank Holidays (including overtime pay)
