DESCRIPTION
Ground Services plays a vital role in delivering a safe, secure and seamless airport experience. This position supports the day-to-day airport operation and helps ensure the punctual performance of Qatar Airways flights while maintaining high standards of customer service.
About the Role
Based in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, the Airport Services Duty Officer is responsible for the overall control of the shift, coordinating airport activities and supporting the safe, secure and on-time operation of Qatar Airways flights. The role acts as a key liaison between airport service providers, stakeholders and internal departments while ensuring operational excellence and effective customer service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the day-to-day airport operation and acts as a liaison between airport service providers and users.
- Monitor operational activities and provide recommendations to improve daily operational effectiveness.
- Ensure passenger and aircraft handling activities comply with applicable safety and security requirements.
- Manage and allocate manpower during the shift to optimise utilisation and maintain morale and discipline.
- Conduct operational spot checks to ensure required standards are maintained.
- Resolve customer issues and complaints in coordination with Customer Relations and relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct shift briefings and provide operational updates to supervisors and service providers.
- Prepare station handling reports, monthly reports, statistics and required operational checks.
- Perform Aircraft Turnaround Check duties as assigned to support safe ground operations.
- Support service recovery, operational disruptions and emergency response activities when required.

QUALIFICATION
About You
- Additional training in passenger handling and supervisory skills is preferred.
- Excellent English communication skills with strong customer service focus.
- Knowledge of Weight and Balance, Ramp Handling and Dangerous Goods Regulations.
- Strong computer literacy and ability to work effectively under pressure while meeting operational deadlines.
- Understanding of aviation safety and security requirements, including ICAO, IATA and local authority regulations.
- Ability to travel on duty assignments to outstations when required.
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
- Must currently have the legal right to live and work in the United Kingdom.
