Location: DHL Aviation, London Heathrow Airport

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: Shift patterns available as follows:

  • Tuesday to Saturday, 0700 to 1600
  • Tuesday to Saturday, 1700 to 0200

(40 hours per week, flexibility required)

🔎 About the Role

You will be responsible for the safe collection, transportation, and delivery of freight. This is a hands-on role that combines driving duties with operational support, requiring flexibility and a commitment to safety and service excellence.

✅ What You’ll Be Doing

  • Collecting and delivering freight on and off the airport.
  • Ensuring all loads are correctly secured and transported safely, with all associated paperwork accurately completed.
  • Operating a range of vehicles and equipment as required.
  • Carrying out daily vehicle checks and reporting any defects promptly.
  • Maintaining regular communication with supervisors and operational teams.
  • Operating equipment safely, responsibly, and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Following Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) and all Health & Safety requirements.
  • Complying with driver regulations, Working Time Directive requirements, tachograph rules, and driving legislation.
  • Adhering to manual handling procedures at all times.
  • Working independently and safely when required.
  • Supporting DHL's wider operational activities, including:
    • Scanning and sorting freight
    • Loading and unloading containers
    • Assisting core warehouse and logistics operations
    • Remaining flexible and willing to undertake additional duties to support the operation when needed.

⭐ What You’ll Bring

Essential

  • A full UK Category C driving licence.
  • A fully checkable 5-year employment history and the ability to pass a DBS check to obtain an airside pass.
  • The ability to work flexibly across varying shift patterns.
  • A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
  • A strong commitment to Health & Safety standards.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with colleagues at all levels, from warehouse teams through to senior management.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.

Desirable

  • Previous airside driving experience.
  • Experience operating forklifts and/or ramp handling equipment.
  • Knowledge of NMIV and AHS systems.
