The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Algo Trading Engineer to join a newly established team developing next-generation technology for electronic and algorithmic trading across European energy markets.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of trading, quantitative development, and real-time technology and wants to have a direct impact on how energy markets are traded in the future.
You’ll help design and build state-of-the-art platforms and infrastructure supporting digital, quantitative and automated trading across power, gas and related energy products.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing a cross-asset algorithmic execution framework for power, gas and related products.
- Building a real-time backtesting and simulation environment based on event-stream sequencing.
- Integrating market data, vendor execution APIs and, over time, direct market connectivity.
- Developing UI components and monitoring tools for algo oversight, order placement, market interaction and real-time risk management.
- Working closely with traders, quants, embedded developers and technology teams to turn ideas into robust production systems.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
