About Via

Via is on a mission to create public transportation systems that provide far greater access to jobs, healthcare, and education. Our platform serves as the technology backbone for modern transit networks, transforming antiquated and siloed public transportation systems into smart, data-driven, and efficient digital networks. With hundreds of agency partners around the world, Via is recognized as the leading transportation technology and service provider globally.

Role Overview

As an Algorithm Researcher at Via, you’ll join our R&D team in London as part of the core Algo group, which is responsible for developing and maintaining Via’s proprietary algorithms that run in production on our live servers. The role sits at the intersection of algorithm development, data science, and software engineering. You’ll work on complex algorithmic problems, explore and evaluate different approaches, and turn your solutions into reliable production systems that support Via’s transportation networks around the world. If you enjoy combining analytical thinking, algorithms, data, and hands-on development, this position might be just for you!

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and improve Via’s core algorithms and business logic, solving complex real-world problems.
  • Explore and evaluate algorithmic approaches using data, experimentation, and analytical methods.
  • Develop and maintain mission-critical services that bring algorithmic solutions into production.
  • Work with large datasets to analyze system behavior and improve the performance of our algorithms.
  • Take ownership of complex technical problems, from initial research and exploration through to production.
  • Work in close collaboration with algorithm developers, researchers, data scientists, and software engineers.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
