About The Role
Grow your rural practice with us!
Are you an Agriculture & Estates lawyer looking for a role where you can do more than simply manage a caseload?
We're looking for an experienced and commercially minded lawyer to join our Agriculture & Estates team in Leamington Spa, helping us build on an established presence in Warwickshire and the surrounding rural market.
This is a growth hire and we're open-minded on level. We're particularly keen to hear from Associates, Senior Associates and Legal Directors, although we'd equally welcome conversations with talented lawyers outside these levels who have the right agricultural or rural property experience.
HCR has one of the largest Agriculture & Estates teams in the country, handling matters ranging from everyday rural property issues through to major strategic projects. Its expertise includes agricultural tenancies and contracts, natural capital, agricultural support schemes, green energy and wider property matters.
What you'll be doing
You'll work with farmers, landowners, landed estates and rural businesses, becoming a trusted adviser and helping clients navigate both the opportunities and challenges that come with owning, managing and developing rural land.
Depending On Your Experience, Your Work Could Include
- Farm, estate and agricultural land acquisitions and disposals
- Agricultural tenancies, Farm Business Tenancies and occupation arrangements
- Easements, rights of way and other rural property matters
- Estate management and complex land matters
- Agricultural mortgages and secured lending
- Rural diversification and development opportunities
- Strategic land and development projects
- Natural capital and environmental opportunities
- Renewable and green energy projects
- Building and developing relationships with land agents, surveyors and other rural professionals
- Supporting the continued growth of HCR's Agriculture & Estates presence across Warwickshire and the Midlands
There is already specialist Agriculture & Estates experience in Leamington. Alex Robinson advises agricultural and rural landowners and tenants on farm and estate sales and purchases, easements, rights of way, boundary matters, agricultural tenancies and mortgages.
About You
We're less focused on a specific number of years' PQE and more interested in what you can bring to the team.
You'll Ideally Have
- Experience in Agriculture & Estates, Agricultural Property, Rural Property or a closely related Real Estate specialism
- Strong knowledge of rural and agricultural property transactions
- An understanding of the commercial issues facing farmers, landowners and landed estates
- The confidence to develop and maintain your own client relationships
- A practical, commercial and personable approach to providing legal advice
- An interest in networking and developing relationships across the rural community
- The ability to work autonomously while collaborating with specialists across the wider firm
- An ambition to develop your reputation and play a meaningful role in growing the practice

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
