The Position
At Roche, we advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love. This is your chance to shape the future of healthcare by leading the development and execution of our evolving Safety sourcing and outsourcing strategy. In this pivotal global role, you will manage external business partner alliances and vendors supporting Pharma Development Safety (PDS) globally, ensuring high-quality oversight of existing services while expanding into automated and augmented delivery through cutting-edge technologies.
In the Alliance Management Principal position, you will be the vital link between internal teams and external partners, providing subject matter expertise and fit-for-purpose governance to ensure optimal delivery in accordance with robust Service Level Agreements. By collaborating across a matrix organisation and partnering with key stakeholders in Procurement, Finance, and Digital Technology, you will drive continuous improvement, manage budgets, and foster a culture of innovation to navigate a shifting safety systems landscape.
The Opportunity:
- Lead the development and implementation of holistic global safety sourcing and outsourcing strategies that maximise value, increase productivity, and reduce operational complexities.
- Define, implement, and maintain robust vendor governance and performance management frameworks across a diverse human resource and technology vendor landscape.
- Partner with vendors and internal teams to adopt automated or augmented solutions, leveraging artificial intelligence and new technologies within an innovation framework.
- Oversee service provider budgets, spend analytics, and forecasting solutions to proactively manage resource and budget demand in partnership with Procurement and Finance.
- Establish effective interface frameworks across PDS functions and technical groups to ensure business requirements are clearly defined, implemented, and aligned.
- Adopt and role-model agile methodologies to drive efficiency, promote adaptive problem-solving, and provide coaching and mentoring to cross-functional squads and team members without direct reporting lines.
- Act as a central point for issue escalation, monitor business risks, and present complex information to senior leadership and governance committees to drive effective decisions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
