Salary: £27,204 rising to £29,859 per annum + Excellent Benefits including Government Pension Location: Hybrid Working/Police Headquarters, Exeter OR Police Headquarters, Winfrith Closing Date: 24/08/2026, Midday Hours per week: This role is 37 hours per week. However, we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work on a part-time basis and we are willing to consider flexible working patterns subject to business need.

About the role:

Alliance Project Officer: Grade 4 – Dorset and Devon & Cornwall – Hybrid Flexible Working

This is currently a Permanent full-time (37 hours) position.

Who are we?

The police have a large number of non-police officer roles, and when you work with us, you join our police family, and are empowered, supported and encouraged to achieve your full potential.

This Project Officer role sits within the Alliance Business Change Department, a team comprising of a variety of roles bursting with a wealth of knowledge and experience, and delivering a diverse portfolio of multi-million-pound projects and change activity across the counties of Devon & Cornwall and Dorset Police. These range from technology implementations and infrastructure improvements to organisational redesign, service transformation, and evolution into the modern world of robotic process automation.

As a Project Officer within our Programme Management Office (PMO), you will provide flexible support across a wide range of projects, programmes and business change activity, offering exposure to a broad variety of work and stakeholders across the organisation. The PMO provides governance, reporting, stakeholder engagement, project controls, and best practice support across the change portfolio. Full training, mentoring and development opportunities will be provided.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Delivering a range of project support services across multiple projects and programmes through the PMO tasking model.
  • Supporting Project Managers and wider change partners in delivering projects and change initiatives.
  • Maintaining project plans, documentation, logs, and records.
  • Coordinating meetings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement activities, including recording actions and decisions.
  • Preparing reports, presentations, briefing papers and governance documentation.
  • Undertaking research, analysis and reporting to support project delivery and decision-making.
  • Supporting the management of project risks, issues, actions, and dependencies.
  • Supporting project communications and administration, including Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
  • Translating and maintaining process maps and diagrams (training provided).

This department boasts a great deal of flexibility, with a hybrid-working approach – being based at either Dorset Police HQ Winfrith or Devon & Cornwall Police HQ Exeter, but including home working where appropriate, alongside flexible hours and a flexitime scheme, whereby any additional hours worked can be claimed back in lieu.

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to analyse information and produce clear reports and presentations.
  • Confidence working with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a project environment would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies such as PRINCE2 Agile would be advantageous, although training will be provided.
